It’s made with a chocolate frosting, powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
But this recipe is far from the only one, and there are many variations.

It’s so popular because it is easy to make and it tastes amazing.
For those who are not fans of chocolate, there’s a recipe for a chocolate moon cake with coconut oil and a mixture of vanilla and cinnamon.
You can also make a lunar cake with milk chocolate, but it will be more difficult to find.

What to do with Moon Cake in Australia Moon cakes can be eaten fresh or baked.
They’re eaten fresh, because the frosting and the chocolate mousses need to be cooked.
And baked, because they don’t need any filling.
This recipe makes about 25-30 Moon cakes per dozen of buttercream and chocolate frosted mousse.
