It’s the Spiderman cake.
And it’s going to be good.
At Publique, a chain of more than 200 specialty grocery stores, a man named David Viscardi made the Spiderwoman cake for a customer who bought it with $2,000 in cash.
He wanted a cake that he thought was worth $10,000.
So he bought one with a design that was just a little bit different.
He gave it to a customer and said, “I’m going to show you a little trick.”
It’s a clever cake design, he told the customer, because it was a little different from the rest.
It had a more modern look, he said.
And the customer liked it.
He said he was impressed by the design, the price and the customer service.
Viscardi, 59, is a retired engineer who has made a career as a birthday cake maker.
He sells birthday cakes at a couple dozen restaurants and in stores, including a few Publiques.
His cake designs range from a spiderman cake that’s topped with frosting and decorated with flowers to a cake decorated with balloons and topped with candy.
He’s a big fan of Disney, but he doesn’t have a Disney birthday cake in mind.
He prefers his cake to be fun, and he says the Spider Woman cake has a little more bite.
When he opens his birthday cake, he asks customers what they’re going to do with it.
Some will put it in their refrigerator, some will slice it up, he says, and some will throw it away.
Viscardis has made more than 50 Spiderman cakes.
His favorite is a birthday one he bought with $5,000 cash at the grocery store in Southfield, Mich., which features a spiderwoman cake with spiderman eyes and a giant cake with a spider.
He made a Spiderman birthday cake for his daughter’s birthday at her house in Ann Arbor.
The cake is also decorated with spiders and spiders-in-the-moon-and-other-things.
I’m not a cake maker, he explains.
I don’t bake cakes.
But I’ve been a cake baker for a long time, and I love the cake.
“I like a good cake,” he said as we sat in his restaurant’s tasting room.
I really enjoy the spider woman cake, too.
It’s the best cake he’s ever made.
He ordered it on the spot because the customer wanted a Spider Woman birthday cake with flowers and spiders.
He had it ready to go by the time he was done.
He’s made over 200 Spiderman-themed birthday cakes in the past year.
But he’s the only one I’ve had the good fortune to work with.
He has a lot of customers who like different birthday cakes.
“The cake has to be special,” he explained.
“It has to look unique, it has to taste good, it needs to look good.”
In the past, he had a hard time getting people to buy his cakes.
Some people didn’t want to pay extra.
And when he did, customers complained.
The cake’s design isn’t very modern.
Vissardi made it a little off the wall.
He tried to put a little spiderman in it.
“But I can’t do that,” he told me.
He decided to make it modern, with the spiderman face.
But when he put the face on it, he noticed a lot more spiders.
The customers kept coming back, he realized, and more customers ordered his Spiderwoman cakes.
He sold over 250.
The cakes are sold by specialty grocers like Publiquis and other specialty stores.
He says that’s because the stores don’t want their customers to waste time at the checkout counter, so they keep the cake in the freezer and put it into the freezer when they’re done.
The customers at PubLix have become so used to his cakes that they think he’s a legend.
I’ve never seen anyone buy a birthday birthday cake like this, Viscardo said.
He doesn’t think it’s because people like him are buying his cakes, though.
The customer base is very different.
“I don’t know if they’re really trying to get a Spiderwoman birthday cake,” Viscangelo said.
But if they are, it’s a lot different than what I would do.
The prices are very reasonable.””
The customers are happy.
The prices are very reasonable.”
